Principles of transformative mediation in conflict

Anyone can be thrust into the role of mediator at times. In that position, things can get pretty hot. As a coach, manager, supervisor, and even a conflicted party, you can get ahead of a lot of trouble thanks to the principles of transformative mediation.

Mediation is a word that sounds increasingly familiar, but what does it actually entail? How does mediation take place and what are the essential elements? In this performance, the process takes shape and concepts become alive.
Often it starts with a simple argument. Two people, two parties who each have their truth. It leads to different stories that can sometimes ignite briskly. When it gets out of hand - or hopefully before then - sometimes mediation is decided. Between neighbors, spouses
workers, groupings. The mediator goes to work, each is allowed to lay his or her egg, all emotions are given their place. Only after sufficient attention has gone to the difference can there be real space for connection and creativity. Coming to a lasting solution together is of course the hoped-for goal. Preferably even with a lasting transformation in the relationship. In this performance, the whole of this process is gone through with a concrete situation, with the audience not just watching as an outsider, but in the middle of it. "

When, in the search for appropriate additional training, I delved into what mediation is, it dawned on me that mediation is the curative version of what we approach preventively in our training work. Daring (to) look at difference. That immediately won me over to choose mediator training in addition to working with improvisational theater.

Did you know. Inspinazies have an extremely fine relationship with Mediv, the Flemish Mediation Institute. TIM already supported the annual conference there several times with workshops and TIM Interludes and wrap-ups. Nathalie conducts the training "Mediation for Mediators" there, Ingrid is a practice assistant and Eva helped shape the mission and vision.
